44871 and 5690 Leander on The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express

The train s seen on the climb to Shap at Scout Green.
The pilot loco 44871 carried a wreath and the Jacobite headboard in memory of Paul Kane
who had fired 44871 many times on the Jacobite service between Fort William and Mallaig.
Sadly Mr. Kane collapsed on the footplate of 60019 Bittern
on the return leg of the Christmas Tynesider on 18th December 2010 and died.
The A4 is said to have been running at around 70 mph at the time between Hitchen and Stevenage.
